Senior HSE Officer - Oil & Gas Operations

About the Role

Our client, a key operator in the oil and gas sector , is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior HSE Officer to ensure the highest standards of Health, Safety, and Environmental performance across their operations in Mahikeng, North West . This critical role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive HSE programs designed to prevent accidents, protect the environment, and ensure regulatory compliance. You will conduct risk assessments, lead safety training initiatives, and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of HSE regulations within the energy industry and a passion for creating a safe and sustainable working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management systems.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver HSE training programs to employees and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international HSE legislation and standards.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and encourage employee participation in HSE initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in HSE management, preferably within the oil and gas industry or heavy industrial sector.
• In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and incident investigation techniques.
• Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
• Ability to work effectively on-site and manage multiple priorities in a demanding environment.
