Operations Manager - Energy Assets

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the operational efficiency and performance of their diverse portfolio of energy assets, based in Vereeniging. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliable and cost-effective generation of power from various sources, including renewables. You will lead a team of operational staff, manage maintenance schedules, and implement strategies to optimize asset performance and longevity. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of power plant operations, and a commitment to safety and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of multiple energy generation facilities, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
• Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies, including preventative and corrective maintenance plans.
• Oversee operational budgets, cost control, and resource allocation for maximum efficiency.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of plant operators, technicians, and supervisors.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze operational data, and implement improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or similar) or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least 8 years of experience in power plant operations and management, with exposure to diverse energy technologies.
• Proven leadership experience managing operational teams and plant activities.
• Strong understanding of operational safety protocols and environmental compliance.
• Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and performance monitoring tools.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
