About the Role

Our client is seeking a focused and experienced Buyer specializing in raw materials to join their manufacturing team in Mahikeng. This hybrid role requires an individual with a keen understanding of commodity markets and supplier negotiation to ensure a consistent and cost-effective supply of essential raw materials. You will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, overseeing the purchasing cycle for raw inputs, and collaborating with production and logistics teams to meet operational demands. This position offers a blend of on-site presence for critical coordination and remote flexibility, making it suitable for a procurement professional who values both team engagement and independent work, contributing directly to production continuity and cost management.

Key Responsibilities

• Source, negotiate, and procure a wide range of raw materials essential for production.
• Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key raw material suppliers.
• Monitor global commodity markets to anticipate price fluctuations and secure favorable purchasing terms.
• Manage purchase orders, track deliveries, and ensure timely arrival of materials to meet production schedules.
• Conduct supplier performance reviews and work to improve reliability and quality.
• Collaborate with production planning and inventory management teams to forecast material needs.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Buyer , specifically focused on raw materials or commodities.
• Demonstrated expertise in negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships in the manufacturing sector.
• Strong understanding of supply chain dynamics and logistics for raw material procurement.
• Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems, with advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to adapt to a hybrid work model and communicate effective across departments.
