About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and impartial Commercial Mediator to facilitate dispute resolution for businesses in the Free State and surrounding regions. This role requires an individual adept at navigating complex commercial disagreements, fostering productive dialogue, and guiding parties towards mutually agreeable solutions outside of formal litigation. You will leverage your extensive experience in negotiation and conflict resolution to help clients save time, reduce costs, and preserve valuable business relationships. This is a flexible contractor position, ideal for an experienced professional looking to apply their expertise in a results-oriented capacity, supporting businesses in Welkom and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct mediation sessions for a variety of commercial disputes, including contract disagreements, partnership conflicts, and debt recovery issues.
• Employ effective communication and active listening skills to understand each party's perspective and underlying interests.
• Facilitate constructive dialogue and negotiation between disputing parties, helping them explore potential settlement options.
• Maintain strict neutrality and impartiality throughout the mediation process.
• Assist parties in drafting and finalizing mediated settlement agreements.
• Manage caseloads and schedule mediation sessions efficiently.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a Commercial Mediator or in a related dispute resolution role.
• Formal training and certification in mediation techniques.
• Deep understanding of commercial law principles and common business disputes.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to remain calm, objective, and authoritative in tense situations.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases concurrently.
