Mechanical Equipment Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Equipment Engineer to oversee the performance and maintenance of critical machinery within their facility in Queenstown . This role is integral to ensuring the reliable operation of production equipment, minimizing downtime, and optimizing equipment efficiency. You will be involved in diagnosing mechanical issues, implementing repair strategies, and contributing to the long-term health of the company's asset base. The ideal candidate possesses hands-on experience with industrial mechanical systems and a proactive approach to equipment management, supporting the vital industrial sector in the Eastern Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of complex mechanical equipment.
• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs for machinery.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement for mechanical components.
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and modification of mechanical equipment.
• Analyze equipment performance data to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company standards in Queenstown .

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical equipment engineering or maintenance.
• Strong practical knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is beneficial.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a demanding environment within Eastern Cape .
