Insurance Actuary

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly skilled and qualified Insurance Actuary to join their fully remote team, supporting operations nationwide, including within Limpopo . This senior role is responsible for performing complex actuarial analyses to assess financial risks, price insurance products accurately, and ensure the company's solvency and profitability. You will work with large datasets, build sophisticated models, and provide critical insights that influence strategic business decisions. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced actuary to make a significant impact in a remote-first environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain actuarial models for pricing, reserving, and capital management.
• Analyze insurance data to assess financial risks, predict future liabilities, and determine appropriate premiums.
• Perform experience analysis, including mortality, lapse, and expense studies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant actuarial standards of practice and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with underwriting, finance, and product development teams to provide actuarial expertise.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations on actuarial findings and recommendations for senior management.

Requirements

• Fellow or near-Fellow of a recognized actuarial society (e.g., Actuarial Society of South Africa).
• Minimum of 5 years of actuarial experience in the insurance industry .
• Strong proficiency in actuarial modeling software and programming languages (e.g., R, Python, SQL).
• Expertise in life insurance , health insurance, or general insurance actuarial principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to non-actuarial audiences in a remote setting .
