Site Engineer - Civil Construction

About the Role

Our client requires a dedicated Site Engineer with a strong background in civil construction to manage and execute projects in the Queenstown area and its surroundings. This role involves overseeing the technical aspects of construction, ensuring quality, and coordinating site activities to meet project objectives. You will work closely with the site manager, subcontractors, and skilled labor to ensure that projects are built to specification and adhere to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is a practical problem-solver with excellent technical skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality civil engineering works in the Eastern Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Site Manager in planning and executing daily site operations.
• Ensure that construction activities comply with engineering designs, specifications, and quality standards.
• Manage and supervise the work of subcontractors and direct labor on site.
• Perform setting out, levelling, and quality control checks for various civil engineering works.
• Monitor material usage and equipment utilization to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Maintain site records, including progress reports, measurement books, and safety documentation.

Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Site Engineer, preferably in civil construction projects.
• Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction plans.
• Solid understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and quality control procedures.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations on construction sites in South Africa .
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Degree or National Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
