Senior Instrumentation Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Instrumentation Engineer to oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems for their industrial operations in Upington. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and safety of process measurements and control loops. You will lead projects, provide technical expertise, and contribute to optimizing plant performance through advanced instrumentation solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify instrumentation for process control applications, including sensors, transmitters, valves, and control systems.
• Develop calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures for a wide range of instrumentation.
• Lead instrumentation projects from conception through to commissioning, ensuring adherence to specifications and schedules.
• Provide expert technical support for instrumentation-related issues and process optimization efforts.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Train and mentor junior instrumentation engineers and technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in instrumentation engineering within industrial or process environments.
• Strong knowledge of process measurement principles (pressure, temperature, flow, level) and control valve technology.
• Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrument specifications.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
