Operations Geologist - Remote Support

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Operations Geologist to join their team, offering full remote work capabilities. This role is vital for providing real-time geological support to drilling operations, ensuring wellbore placement accuracy and formation evaluation integrity within the oil and gas sector . You will analyze geological data as it becomes available during drilling, make critical geological decisions, and communicate effectively with rig site personnel and management. The ideal candidate possesses strong geological interpretation skills, a deep understanding of formation evaluation techniques, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure in a remote setting. Your expertise will directly contribute to the successful and safe execution of drilling campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide real-time geological monitoring and interpretation of drilling data, including well logs and cuttings analysis.
• Make critical decisions on wellbore trajectory, formation tops, and fluid contacts to ensure targets are met.
• Communicate geological information and recommendations clearly and concisely to rig site personnel and management.
• Perform formation evaluation, including calculating formation pressures and assessing reservoir properties.
• Collaborate with drilling engineers to optimize drilling performance and mitigate geological hazards.
• Prepare end-of-well geological reports and contribute to post-drilling analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or a related Earth Science field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations geology, with a focus on the oil and gas industry.
• Proficiency in formation evaluation techniques and interpretation of various well logs.
• Experience with geological software and real-time data interpretation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make timely, informed decisions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to effectively manage tasks in a remote work environment.
