Senior Frontend Developer (React)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and passionate Senior Frontend Developer with expertise in React to join their innovative team, initially based in Pretoria with a significant remote component. You will be responsible for building engaging and user-friendly interfaces for our web applications, collaborating closely with designers and backend engineers to translate requirements into seamless user experiences. This role is ideal for a developer who is dedicated to writing clean, maintainable code, stays updated with the latest frontend technologies, and thrives in a collaborative, agile environment. You will have a direct impact on the user-facing aspects of our products.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality, responsive, and performant user interfaces using React and related libraries.
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate wireframes and mockups into functional and aesthetically pleasing web components.
• Write clean, well-documented, and testable JavaScript , HTML, and CSS code.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior frontend developers.
• Work closely with backend engineers to integrate frontend components with server-side logic via APIs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in frontend development.
• Expertise in React.js and its core principles, including Hooks and Context API.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3, including preprocessors like SASS or LESS.
• Experience with state management libraries (e.g., Redux, Zustand) and build tools (e.g., Webpack, Vite).
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and asynchronous request handling.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library).
