Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Driver - Regional Haulage

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and certified Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Driver to undertake regional haulage operations based out of Richards Bay . This position requires a professional who understands the demands of long-distance transport and is committed to safety and compliance. You will be responsible for the secure and efficient transport of bulk goods, contributing significantly to the operational efficiency of our client's logistics network in the KwaZulu-Natal region. This role is essential for ensuring that vital supplies reach their destinations reliably.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) safely and legally for regional haulage routes.
• Plan daily routes to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods from Richards Bay to various regional destinations.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of the HGV, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and fluid levels.
• Securely load and unload cargo, ensuring compliance with weight restrictions and load stability regulations.
• Maintain accurate driver logs, delivery records, and vehicle maintenance reports.
• Adhere strictly to all road safety regulations, tachograph requirements, and company policies.

Requirements

• Valid HGV driver's license (Code 14) with a valid Professional Driver's Permit (PDP).
• Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience driving HGVs in a commercial setting.
• Proven ability to navigate and operate vehicles in various weather and road conditions common to KwaZulu-Natal .
• Excellent understanding of HGV mechanics and safety protocols.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to professionalism.
