Remote Construction Safety Coordinator

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and proactive Remote Construction Safety Coordinator to support their diverse portfolio of projects. In this fully remote role, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety protocols across multiple construction sites without needing to be physically present. Your responsibilities will include reviewing safety documentation, conducting virtual safety assessments, providing guidance to on-site personnel, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety legislation. This position is perfect for a safety professional who excels in a virtual environment and is passionate about fostering a strong safety culture from a distance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain comprehensive health and safety plans for various construction projects, tailored for remote oversight.
• Review and approve risk assessments, method statements, and safe work procedures submitted by site teams.
• Conduct virtual safety inspections and audits using digital tools and reporting mechanisms.
• Provide expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters to site managers and project teams.
• Monitor compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and company policies through remote means.
• Investigate reported safety incidents and near misses, facilitating root cause analysis and corrective action planning.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, NOSA qualifications).
• Proven experience in a construction safety role, with a strong understanding of site safety management.
• Excellent knowledge of South African OHS Act and construction-specific safety regulations.
• Strong analytical, communication, and reporting skills, adapted for remote collaboration.
• Proficiency in using digital safety management systems and remote communication tools .
