Control System Engineer (Based in Pretoria) (Global travel non-negotiable)

We are seeking a skilled Control Systems Engineer with strong operational and design expertise. In this role, you will design and optimize control systems, ensuring compliance with international standards and safety regulations, particularly within the mining sector.

Requirements / Qualifications:

• Degree, Technical Diploma, or equivalent NQF qualification in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronic Engineering
• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on operational and design experience, including proficiency with relevant engineering design software
• Ability to apply technical theory to practical, hands-on work
• Prior experience working within or alongside the mining industry
• Proven track record in control system design
• Strong working knowledge of international control system regulations and specifications
• Practical familiarity with PLC and SCADA environments
• Experience with Rockwell and Siemens platforms
• Familiarity with Schneider Control Expert or Aveva Systems Platform (Wonderware) Note: Official Aveva/Wonderware certification is a major plus
• Solid understanding of, or exposure to, the Mine Health and Safety Act

Responsibilities:

• Create cost-effective solutions that match client requirements
• Have capabilities to grow and develop yourself in the industry
• Draft detailed designs of approved solutions and oversee development
• Map out system architectures for software deployments
• Design industrial communication networks including Ethernet, fibre, and Profinet
• Build custom PLC programs to fulfill operational needs
• Develop SCADA and HMI applications aligned with client specs
• Build simulation applications for functional testing and user training
• Conduct rigorous testing to ensure full system functionality
• Deploy the final solution on-site and optimize performance
• Train and guide clients to operate systems within design limits
• Deliver ongoing post-project system support as needed
• Remain available for standby duties under service level agreements
