General Manager

About the Role
We are looking for a General Manager to take full accountability for the performance, profitability and long-term growth of a specialist technical business. You will provide strategic and operational leadership across all functions, turning strategy into results while delivering exceptional value to customers and stakeholders.

What You Will Do
Lead strategy and performance

• Drive execution of the business strategy through robust planning and implementation
• Track performance against strategic goals and take corrective action where needed
• Identify risks and opportunities to secure sustainable growth
• Champion innovation, operational excellence and continuous improvement

Own commercial and financial results

• Grow revenue and profitability
• Manage and monitor the annual operating budget
• Strengthen relationships with key customers, supporting business development, satisfaction and retention

Run excellent operations

• Oversee manufacturing, quality assurance and delivery of products and services
• Optimise efficiency, productivity and processes
• Ensure capacity, resourcing and planning support current and future growth
• Maintain high standards of product quality and customer service

Lead and develop people

• Provide clear direction and support to your team
• Build an accountable, engaged and collaborative culture
• Drive performance management, development and workforce planning

Manage key stakeholders

• Build strategic relationships with customers, suppliers and industry partners
• Represent the business at external engagements and industry forums
• Collaborate across internal functions and the wider Group

Safeguard governance, risk and compliance

• Promote ethical leadership and sound corporate governance
• Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and regulation
• Champion health, safety, quality and environmental responsibility

What You Bring
Qualifications and experience

• Bachelors degree in Business Management, Engineering, Science or a related field (a postgraduate qualification is advantageous)
• 5-8 years experience as a General Manager within manufacturing, mining, laboratory services or a related technical environment
• Experience in a company reporting into a Group structure is advantageous
