About the Role

The role sits within the Operations Team and focuses on creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for members. The Lifeguard supervises pool and spa areas, maintains safety and cleanliness standards, and delivers exceptional customer service. The post holder acts as a trusted ambassador for the club, responding confidently to situations and supporting the wider Operations team. They may also undertake Duty Manager responsibilities when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise all pool and spa areas, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of members and guests at all times.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by creating a friendly, approachable and welcoming environment for every member.
• Carry out routine poolside safety checks, water testing and plant monitoring, accurately recording all required information.
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, following all Virgin Active operating procedures and lifeguarding protocols.
• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation across all poolside, spa and changing facilities.
• Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, risk assessments and mandatory training requirements.
• Support the wider Operations team with the day-to-day running of the club, helping to maintain a safe and welcoming environment throughout.
• Undertake Duty Manager responsibilities when required, supporting the safe and efficient operation of the club.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Passion for delivering exceptional customer service and creating a safe, enjoyable member experience.
• Calm, confident and able to remain composed under pressure.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage positively with members and colleagues.
• High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining safety and operational standards.
• Flexible approach to working hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
• Competency swimming up to 50 metres.

Salary

• £13.25—£13.25 GBP
