Junior Accountant
Our client, a well-established company operating within the construction, civil engineering, and manufacturing sectors, is seeking a Junior Accountant to join their finance team.
This opportunity is ideal for an energetic, hands-on individual who enjoys taking ownership of their work, can work independently, and is able to hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment.
- BCom Degree in Accounting
- 3-5 years' accounting experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
- Experience with QuickBooks (non-negotiable)
- Experience using SARS eFiling
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting:
- Processing and reviewing financial transactions
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Bank reconciliations
- Journal entries and month-end procedures
- Assisting with financial reporting and management accounts
Cost Accounting:
- Monitoring and analysing project and production costs
- Assisting with budget preparation and cost control measures
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Variance analysis and reporting
Tax Administration:
- VAT calculations and submissions
- Assisting with tax compliance requirements
- SARS correspondence and queries
- Maintaining supporting tax documentation
Internal Controls:
- Maintaining and improving financial controls and procedures
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards
- Assisting with audits and supporting documentation
- Identifying and mitigating financial risks
