Job Purpose:

To ensure service excellence at the point of sale by ensuring fast and efficient customer service and point of sale (POS) operational activities.

Job Objectives:

• To efficiently execute all operational activities at the point of sale in a timely and efficient manner.
• To maintain high levels of accuracy when scanning merchandise and collecting payment for goods purchased.
• To ensure the safe handling of cash at all times.
• To make customers aware of promotions in order to positively affect sales.
• To deliver superior customer service by acting as a brand ambassador, being visible and offering a friendly and professional service.
• To efficiently execute and maintain all merchandising and general housekeeping duties according to store and visual merchandise standards.
• To ensure continuity of excellent service by focusing on own development and product knowledge and sharing product information with relief staff
• To support the Group’s vision to be the customer’s first choice health and beauty retailer by living and driving the company values.
• To maintain updated knowledge on products, ranges, promotions and events in order to provide the correct information to customers at all times.

Job knowledge:

• Basic understanding of retail operations, including shelf packing and customer service
• Knowledge of cash handling and till procedures (where applicable)
• Awareness of stock handling, including receiving, unpacking, and rotating stock
• Understanding of customer service principles
• Basic knowledge of health, safety, and security practices
• Familiarity with store routines and procedures
• Knowledge of township/low LSM customer needs and buying behaviour
• Basic awareness of loss prevention (shrinkage control)
• Understanding of promotions and product displays
• Familiarity with POS systems or card/cash payment method

Skills:

• Basic numeracy skills (for cash handling and pricing)
• Ability to work under pressure in busy environments
• Good teamwork and cooperation
• Basic problem-solving skills
• Ability to identify customer needs and suggest products

Experience

• At least 6-12 months' experience in retail or a customer-facing role (or willingness to learn)
• Experience in customer service and basic cash handling (advantageous)

Education

• Matric / Grade 12 (or equivalent)
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills
• Short courses in Customer service (Desirable)
• Short courses in Retail basics (cash handling, merchandising) (Desirable)

• Planning and Organizing
