About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established, mid-sized accounting firm based in Cape Town CBD, is seeking an experienced Tax Officer to join their team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a broad range of tax compliance matters across individuals, companies and trusts, ensuring accurate and timely submissions in accordance with SARS requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review and submit tax returns for individuals, companies and trusts.
Manage tax compliance across various tax types, including Income Tax, VAT, PAYE and other applicable taxes.
Prepare and submit provisional tax returns and related calculations.
Handle SARS correspondence, queries, assessments and requests for supporting documentation.
Assist with tax registrations, deregistrations and amendments.
Monitor tax deadlines and ensure timely submission of returns and payments.
Maintain accurate tax records and ensure compliance with relevant tax legislation.
Liaise with clients and SARS regarding tax compliance matters.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum of 3 years' practical tax experience within an accounting or audit practice environment (essential).
Relevant qualification in Taxation, Accounting or Finance (advantageous but not essential).
Demonstrated competence across all major tax compliance types.
Proven experience preparing and submitting Income Tax, VAT and PAYE returns.
Experience handling tax matters for companies, trusts and individuals.
Sound knowledge of South African tax legislation and SARS compliance requirements.
Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Ability to work independently and manage a portfolio of tax compliance responsibilities.
Ideal Candidate
A detail-oriented and technically competent tax professional with strong practical experience in a professional accounting or audit practice. The ideal candidate will be confident managing various tax submissions independently and comfortable working with a diverse client portfolio.
