Senior Mechanical Stress Analyst

About the Role Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Stress Analyst to join their engineering team in Pretoria . This critical role focuses on performing in-depth analysis of mechanical components and structures to ensure their integrity, safety, and reliability under various operating conditions. You will employ advanced simulation techniques and analytical methods to predict performance and identify potential failure modes. The ideal candidate is a meticulous problem-solver with a deep understanding of structural mechanics and material behavior, contributing essential expertise to the design and validation process in a hybrid work setting. Key Responsibilities Conduct advanced finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate stress, strain, fatigue, and deformation in mechanical components. Develop and validate analytical models using industry-standard software such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar tools. Interpret simulation results and provide clear, actionable recommendations to design engineers. Perform modal analysis, thermal analysis, and dynamic response simulations. Collaborate with the design team to optimize component geometry and material selection for improved performance and durability. Stay current with the latest advancements in stress analysis techniques and simulation technologies. Requirements Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a specialization in solid mechanics or computational mechanics. Minimum of 6 years of experience specifically in mechanical stress analysis and FEA. Extensive experience with FEA software packages and pre/post-processors. Strong theoretical foundation in solid mechanics, material science, and fracture mechanics. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work model , balancing on-site and remote collaboration.
