Field Guide

A luxury safari lodge on a private concession beside a renowned Eastern Cape national park is seeking an experienced and personable FIELD GUIDE to join their guiding team.

This role suits a confident, knowledgeable guide who can bring the wildlife, birdlife, and landscape to life for guests of all ages. You will lead game drives in a malaria-free setting, where guests expect an unhurried, personal safari experience.

Core Criteria:

• Recognised field guiding qualification
• Proven experience guiding at a lodge or private reserve
• Valid driver's licence and PrDP
• Own reliable transport preferred
• Sound knowledge of local wildlife, birds, plants, and ecology
• Strong storytelling and guest communication skills
• Comfortable hosting families and guests of all ages
• Reliable, adaptable, and a good team player in a small lodge environment

Core Responsibilities:

• Conduct guided game drives
• Interpret wildlife, birdlife, and the surrounding landscape for guests
• Ensure the safety and comfort of guests at all times
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and keep vehicles clean and presentable
• Record and share sightings with the wider team
• Engage with guests at meals and around the lodge, adding to the overall experience
• Uphold lodge service standards and support fellow team members

On Offer:

• Salary: R8,000 to R12,000 per month, depending on experience
• Work cycle of six days on, two days off
• Live-in
• Meals are not included
• 21 days' annual leave
• Provident fund contribution
