Junior Mechanical Engineer

Take ownership of real-world engineering challenges

Our client is looking for a resourceful, technically minded Mechanical Engineer who takes initiative, thinks ahead and enjoys solving practical engineering problems. You will work independently and take ownership of your deliverables, supported by an experienced engineering team in Pretoria East.

The role
This is a varied role that mixes site and office work. You will carry out onsite inspections and condition assessments, do engineering calculations and design work, investigate technical problems and report on your findings. You will also help coordinate projects. The client wants an engineer who anticipates the next step instead of waiting for instructions.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out onsite inspections and condition assessments
• Perform engineering calculations and support design work
• Investigate technical problems and recommend solutions
• Write clear technical reports and communicate findings to clients and colleagues
• Support project coordination and take ownership of your deliverables
• Work with an experienced engineering team, on site and in the office

Minimum requirements

• BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering
• Relevant industry experience at an intermediate level
• Analytical, resourceful and technically strong
• Strong technical report-writing and communication skills
• Able to work independently and take ownership of deliverables
• Comfortable working both onsite and in the office
• Fluent in both English and Afrikaans

Advantageous

• CAD experience, such as SolidWorks
• Prokon experience
