Fine Dining Waiter

A Fine Dining Restaurant in Stellenbosch is looking for a professional and attentive Waiter to join their service team.

The successful candidate will deliver personalised guest service, demonstrate strong food and wine knowledge and maintain fine dining service standards throughout each guest’s experience.

Duties:

Guest Service:

Welcome guests and present menus and wine lists.
Explain dishes, ingredients and preparation methods confidently.
Recommend suitable food and wine pairings.
Take accurate orders and communicate dietary requirements and allergies to the kitchen.
Coordinate with the kitchen and bar to ensure well-timed service.
Respond attentively to guest requests and handle concerns professionally.

Restaurant Preparation & Service Standards:

Prepare tables, polish glassware and cutlery, and ensure service areas are ready before opening.
Follow correct food and beverage service procedures.
Maintain clean, organised tables and service stations throughout service.
Work closely with colleagues to ensure a smooth dining experience.

Payments & Administration:

Capture orders accurately on the POS system.
Prepare guest bills and process payments correctly.
Follow cash-handling procedures and complete assigned closing duties.

Requirements:

Previous waiter experience within a fine dining restaurant or luxury hospitality environment.
Strong knowledge of food, wine and fine dining service etiquette.
Confidence explaining menus and recommending wines.
Good understanding of dietary requirements and allergen communication.
Experience using POS systems and handling payments.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Professional presentation and strong attention to detail.
A warm, guest-focused approach and good teamwork skills.
Ability to remain calm and efficient during busy service periods.
Willingness to work shifts, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
