The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of geological principles, coupled with expertise in utilizing state-of-the‑art software for seismic interpretation and reservoir characterization. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geological exploration projects, focusing on prospect identification and risk assessment using advanced subsurface data analysis.
• Interpret complex geological and geophysical data, including seismic, well logs, and core data, to define prospective areas.
• Develop and refine geological models for hydrocarbon reservoirs, estimating potential reserves and production scenarios.
• Utilize geological software packages (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite) for mapping, modeling, and visualization.
• Collaborate closely with remote geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams to integrate diverse datasets and optimize exploration strategies.
• Provide expert geological input for business development and strategic planning initiatives.
• Mentor and guide junior geologists and geoscientists within the exploration team.
• Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements and methodologies in exploration geology and data analytics.
• Prepare and present detailed geological reports and recommendations to senior management.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in exploration geology within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Demonstrated success in leading exploration teams and managing geological projects, ideally in a remote or distributed environment.
• Expert proficiency in geological interpretation software, seismic data analysis, and basin modeling.
• Strong understanding of petroleum systems, sedimentology, stratigraphy, and structural geology.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proven ability to communicate complex geological concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with remote collaboration tools and working autonomously in a virtual setting.
• Must be eligible to work remotely from Mossel Bay, Western Cape, ZA or any location within South Africa.
