Project Engineer - Renewable Energy Construction
About the Role
Our client, a rapidly growing company at the forefront of renewable energy construction in South Africa, is seeking a dedicated Project Engineer to join their team. This role is based in Upington, Northern Cape , a key region for solar energy development. You will be instrumental in managing and executing aspects of renewable energy construction projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Responsibilities will include technical support, site coordination, quality assurance, and liaising with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess a strong engineering background, a keen interest in renewable energy, and excellent project management capabilities. Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical engineering support for renewable energy construction projects (e.g., solar farms, wind farms).
- Assist in the planning, scheduling, and execution of project activities.
- Coordinate with site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project progress.
- Monitor construction progress against project plans and identify potential deviations.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety regulations, and environmental protocols.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Assist in managing project documentation, including reports, permits, and progress updates.
- Participate in site inspections and safety meetings.
- Support the project manager in managing project risks and issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering or project coordination, preferably within the construction or energy sector.
- A strong interest in and understanding of renewable energy technologies.
- Proficiency in project management software and technical documentation.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Upington area.
