About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent and proactive Remote Construction Safety Officer to join their expanding team, supporting projects nationwide from a remote setting. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive safety programs to ensure a secure working environment for all construction personnel, irrespective of their physical location. This role is crucial in upholding the company's commitment to safety excellence and compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to effectively advise and train teams remotely, fostering a robust safety culture across all project sites throughout South Africa .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and update safety policies and procedures for construction projects.
- Conduct remote risk assessments and hazard identification for various project phases and locations.
- Monitor safety compliance through site reports, virtual inspections, and data analysis.
- Provide guidance and support to site teams on best practices for health and safety management.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Facilitate and record safety training sessions for remote and on-site personnel.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Construction Safety Officer or in a similar H&S role.
- In-depth knowledge of South African occupational health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Experience in developing and implementing safety management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, suitable for remote interaction.
- Proficiency in relevant safety software and tools; ability to conduct virtual inspections.
