Landscaping & Estate Management Supervisor
About the Role Our client is seeking a highly organized and experienced Landscaping & Estate Management Supervisor to oversee the grounds and gardens of their prestigious properties in the George, Western Cape area. This role involves managing a team of gardeners and groundskeepers to ensure the highest standards of horticultural care, landscape design implementation, and overall estate presentation. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all landscaping activities, from routine maintenance to specialized planting projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong horticultural background, excellent leadership skills, and a keen eye for detail and aesthetics. Key Responsibilities
- Supervising and directing the daily activities of the landscaping and groundskeeping team.
- Developing and implementing seasonal planting plans and garden maintenance schedules.
- Overseeing the care of lawns, trees, shrubs, flowerbeds, and other landscape features.
- Managing irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water usage and plant health.
- Implementing pest and disease control measures, prioritizing environmentally friendly approaches.
- Operating and maintaining landscaping equipment and tools.
- Ensuring the safety of the team and adherence to all health and safety regulations.
- Managing inventory of horticultural supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Coordinating with external contractors for specialized landscaping projects when necessary.
- Maintaining high standards of presentation across all managed estates.
Requirements
- A diploma or certificate in Horticulture, Landscape Design, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in landscaping or horticultural management.
- Proven experience in supervising a team of groundskeepers or gardeners.
- Strong knowledge of plant identification, horticultural practices, and pest/disease management.
- Experience with irrigation systems and landscape maintenance equipment.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- A keen eye for design and aesthetics in landscaping.
