Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the preparation and submission of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for energy projects.
• Develop and implement comprehensive Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) to mitigate potential environmental impacts.
• Conduct environmental site assessments, baseline studies, and monitoring programs.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national, provincial, and local environmental legislation and policies.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies, environmental authorities, and other stakeholders to secure permits and approvals.
• Provide expert advice on environmental best practices, risk management, and mitigation strategies.
• Conduct environmental audits and training for project teams.
• Interpret environmental data and prepare detailed technical reports.
• Stay updated on emerging environmental issues, regulations, and technologies relevant to the energy sector.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of company-wide environmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental consulting or management, with a strong focus on the energy sector.
• Proven experience in conducting EIAs and developing EMPs according to South African regulations (e.g., NEMA).
• In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation, impact assessment processes, and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with various energy project types (e.g., renewable energy, power generation, transmission).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in environmental modelling software and GIS is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently in a remote setting.
