Senior Civil Engineer - Infrastructure Projects

About the Role

Our client, a leading consultancy in the civil engineering sector, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Civil Engineer to join their dynamic team based in Polokwane, Limpopo . This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to significant infrastructure development projects across the region. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the planning, design, and execution of a variety of civil engineering works, including road construction, water reticulation, and storm water management systems. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of civil engineering projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
• Manage project lifecycles from conceptualization through to completion, including feasibility studies, design, tendering, and construction supervision.
• Prepare detailed technical specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
• Conduct site investigations, surveys, and assessments to inform design decisions.
• Oversee and mentor junior engineering staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Liaise effectively with clients, stakeholders, government authorities, and contractors to ensure project objectives are met.
• Ensure all projects adhere to strict quality control measures and safety protocols.
• Manage project budgets and timelines, identifying and mitigating potential risks.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) as a Pr. Eng. is essential.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with a strong focus on infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience in project management, including managing teams and budgets.
• Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other structural analysis tools.
• Excellent understanding of South African building codes, municipal bylaws, and environmental regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound engineering judgments.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Limpopo province.
