About the Role
Our client, a vibrant architectural studio focused on innovative community projects, is looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Architectural Drafter to join their remote team. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a recent graduate or someone with foundational drafting skills to gain hands-on experience in a supportive, digitally-enabled environment. You will be instrumental in assisting the senior architectural team by producing detailed drawings, plans, and 3D models under their guidance. The role demands a keen eye for detail, proficiency in drafting software, and a passion for architecture and design. As this is a fully remote position, you will need to be self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and be comfortable collaborating virtually. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare architectural drawings, plans, elevations, and sections using CAD software under supervision.
- Assist in developing 3D models and visualizations for design presentations.
- Support senior architects in preparing detailed construction documents and specifications.
- Ensure drawings are accurate, consistent, and adhere to drafting standards.
- Organize and maintain digital drawing files and project documentation.
- Conduct basic research on building materials and systems as required.
- Participate in virtual team meetings and design reviews.
- Learn and apply BIM software and workflows as directed by the team.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to drawing production and document control.
Requirements
- National Diploma or Certificate in Architectural Technology, Architectural Drafting, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of architectural drafting principles and techniques.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; experience with Revit is a strong advantage.
- Basic understanding of 3D modeling principles.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to interpret architectural sketches and instructions.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills for remote work.
- Good verbal and written communication skills for virtual collaboration.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn and develop new skills.
- Previous exposure to projects related to the Soweto area or similar community-focused initiatives is a plus.
