Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support on various banking and finance transactions, including loans, syndicated facilities, and structured finance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate finance agreements, security documents, and related legal documentation.
- Ensure compliance with South African banking laws, regulations (e.g., FAIS, FIC Act), and central bank directives.
- Advise on regulatory requirements and liaise with regulatory bodies as needed.
- Manage legal aspects of financial restructuring and recovery processes.
- Conduct legal research and provide opinions on complex finance-related legal issues.
- Collaborate with business units to identify and mitigate legal risks associated with financial products and services.
- Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures for the banking and finance division.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel and financial advisors.
- Stay updated on emerging trends and changes in banking and finance law.
Requirements
- Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 6 years of post-qualification experience, with a strong focus on banking and finance law.
- Proven experience in advising on and documenting complex financial transactions.
- In-depth knowledge of South African financial services legislation and regulatory landscape.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance, capital markets, and credit facilities.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet demanding deadlines.

- Proficiency in legal research and standard office software.
