We are currently seeking a proficient and driven Operational Accountant to join our team and play a pivotal role in our ongoing success.

Job Description:

The Operational Accountant forms part of the Finance team and supports the day-to-day financial accounting and reporting functions of the business.

The role has a particular focus on working with operational teams to ensure that financial processes, controls and procedures are correctly understood and followed. The Operational Accountant will assist with identifying gaps, resolving discrepancies and improving the way financial processes are applied within the business. The role also supports international freight and export coordination, ensuring accurate cost recording, documentation and efficient shipment processes.

This is a hands-on development opportunity for an accountant who has a strong technical foundation and wants broader exposure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process and verify financial transactions, supplier invoices, purchase orders and operational expenses, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial controls.
• Assist departments with capturing approved cost budget amendments, monitoring expenditure and investigating variances.
• Perform reconciliations, monitor operational costs and identify discrepancies and opportunities for improved cost efficiency.
• Support month-end processes, financial reporting and the maintenance of accurate financial records and systems.
• Assist operational teams with financial procedures, purchasing processes and cost control.
• Coordinate international freight bookings and export shipments, including shipment tracking, documentation and liaison with freight forwarders and shipping agents.
• Capture and reconcile freight and export-related costs, verify invoices and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
• Support the wider finance team and identify opportunities to improve financial and operational processes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade or a related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Business Central advantageous).

Experience:

• 3+ years of experience in a financial or operational accounting role, preferably in an FMCG, retail, or sales-driven environment.
