About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geomodeling Specialist to join their innovative subsurface team. This role is based in Klerksdorp, North West, a region with significant geological interest. You will be responsible for creating detailed and accurate geological models that form the basis for reservoir simulation, field development planning, and resource estimation. This position requires a deep understanding of geological principles, advanced geostatistical techniques, and proficiency in industry-standard geomodeling software. The Senior Geomodeling Specialist will work closely with geologists, geophysicists, and reservoir engineers to integrate diverse datasets and deliver robust subsurface interpretations. You will play a key role in reducing uncertainty and enhancing the understanding of complex geological formations. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and quality control 3D geological models of reservoirs and the subsurface.
• Integrate various data types, including well logs, seismic data, core data, and production data.
• Apply geostatistical methods (e.g., kriging, sequential simulation) for property modeling.
• Perform uncertainty analysis and quantify geological risks.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers to define model requirements for simulation.
• Assist in prospect identification and evaluation through geomodeling.
• Prepare technical documentation and present geomodeling results to multidisciplinary teams.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in geomodeling technologies and workflows.
• Mentor junior geoscientists in geomodeling techniques.
• Ensure consistency and accuracy of geological interpretations across projects.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline with a focus on geostatistics.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in geological modeling for the oil and gas industry.
• Proven expertise with geomodeling software packages (e.g., Petrel, Geomodeling, RMS).
• Strong understanding of geostatistical principles and applications.
• Experience with seismic interpretation and well log analysis.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python) is an advantage.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and visualization skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in the North West region's geological settings is a plus.
