Network Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a leading cybersecurity firm, is seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to join their dedicated team. This is a hybrid role based in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, offering a balance between focused on-site collaboration and remote flexibility. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network security infrastructure to protect our client's assets and sensitive data. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying and mitigating security threats, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and responding to security incidents. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of network protocols, security technologies, and best practices. Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other network security devices.
• Monitor network traffic for security threats and anomalies.
• Develop and enforce network security policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
• Respond to security incidents, including investigation and remediation.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure network configurations.
• Stay current with emerging security threats and technologies.
• Provide technical guidance and support on network security matters.
• Maintain accurate documentation of network security systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in network security engineering.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and network security principles.
• Experience with various security technologies (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, SIEM).
• Familiarity with vulnerability assessment tools and penetration testing methodologies.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security, or CISSP are highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment.
