Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization and execution of sound design for various digital projects, including interactive installations, virtual reality experiences, and high-end video content.
• Develop and implement innovative audio strategies that align with project goals and enhance user immersion.
• Supervise and mentor a team of remote sound engineers and designers, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
• Create, record, edit, and mix high‑quality sound effects, foley, dialogue, and ambient soundscapes.
• Source or create custom audio assets, ensuring originality and adherence to licensing requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with directors, game developers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to integrate sound seamlessly into the overall product.
• Manage audio budgets and timelines for multiple projects, ensuring on‑time and on‑budget delivery.
• Conduct quality assurance testing of all audio elements to ensure optimal performance and fidelity across various platforms.
• Stay at the forefront of audio technology, exploring new tools and techniques to enhance the sonic experience.
• Maintain a comprehensive library of sound assets and project files.

Requirements

• Extensive experience as a Sound Designer, with a significant portfolio demonstrating leadership in audio for digital media (VR/AR, gaming, interactive installations, film).
• Advanced proficiency in Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Cubase, or Ableton Live.
• Strong understanding of audio middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD) and real‑time audio engines.
• Expertise in sound editing, mixing, mastering, and audio post‑production techniques.
• Proven ability to lead and manage creative teams remotely.
• Excellent understanding of acoustics, psychoacoustics, and spatial audio.
• Experience with field recording and sound synthesis.
• Exceptional communication, organizational, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and proactively in a remote setting.
• A portfolio demonstrating innovative and impactful sound design solutions is mandatory.
• Experience working with clients based in or targeting the Cape Town market is a plus but not essential for this remote role.
