Senior Quality Control Manager - Food Production

About the Role

Our client, a reputable food production company, is seeking an experienced Senior Quality Control Manager to oversee all quality assurance and control operations at their facility in Cape Town, Western Cape, ZA . This is a critical on-site role, ensuring that all products meet stringent quality and safety standards from raw material intake to finished goods. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive quality management systems, adhering to both local and international regulations. The Senior Quality Control Manager will lead a team of quality inspectors and technicians, providing leadership and technical expertise. This position requires a deep understanding of food safety protocols, HACCP, and GMP, coupled with strong leadership and analytical skills. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the company's reputation and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the company's Quality Management System (QMS) in line with industry standards.
• Oversee all quality control testing and inspections throughout the production process.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including HACCP, GMP, and ISO standards.
• Manage and mentor the Quality Control team, providing training and performance evaluations.
• Investigate quality deviations and customer complaints, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Collaborate with Production, R&D, and Procurement teams to address quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Conduct internal audits and facilitate external audits by regulatory bodies and customers.
• Monitor key quality metrics and report on performance to senior management.
• Maintain all quality-related documentation and records accurately.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control/assurance within the food manufacturing industry.
• In-depth knowledge of HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, and other relevant food safety standards.
• Proven experience in managing a team and implementing quality management systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent understanding of laboratory testing procedures and equipment.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaac with all levels of staff.
• Proficiency in using quality management software and standard office applications.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Cape Town, Western Cape, ZA .
