Senior Project Manager - Construction & Development

About the Role

Our client, a prominent property development firm, is actively seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager to oversee a range of exciting construction and development projects in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga . This role is central to the successful execution of commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments, ensuring they are completed to the highest standards of quality, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in construction project management, a keen eye for detail, and strong leadership abilities to guide project teams and manage diverse stakeholder interests. Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of construction projects, from initial planning and design through to procurement, execution, and final handover.
• Develop detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource plans, and monitor their progress closely.
• Lead and motivate project teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and site staff.
• Ensure strict adherence to all building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards throughout the construction process.
• Oversee contract administration, including tender processes, negotiation, and management of supplier and contractor agreements.
• Maintain proactive and transparent communication with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities in Mpumalanga .
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring minimal disruption and timely resolution of issues.
• Conduct site inspections and quality control checks to ensure project deliverables meet specified requirements.
• Manage project finances, including cost control, invoicing, and payment processing.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in project management within the construction and property development industry.
• Proven success in managing diverse projects, including commercial buildings, residential estates, and infrastructure works.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and building technologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in using project management software such as MS Project, AutoCAD, or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of South African building regulations, zoning laws, and safety standards.
• Ability to manage complex budgets and financial reporting.
• Experience in risk management and problem-solving.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to undertake site visits across Mpumalanga .
