Community Health Nurse Educator

About the Role

Our client, a public health non‑profit organization dedicated to improving community health outcomes, is seeking a passionate and experienced Community Health Nurse Educator for their operations in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga . This role is central to delivering essential health education and support services directly to communities. You will be responsible for developing and delivering health promotion programs, conducting health screenings, and providing guidance on preventative healthcare. The ideal candidate possesses strong clinical nursing skills, excellent teaching abilities, and a genuine commitment to community well‑being. This position requires active engagement within the local community and travel within the Mpumalanga region. We are looking for a dedicated professional to empower individuals and families with vital health knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive health education programs on topics such as disease prevention, nutrition, hygiene, and reproductive health.
• Conduct health needs assessments within the community to identify priority health issues.
• Deliver health education sessions, workshops, and one‑on‑one counseling to individuals, families, and community groups.
• Perform basic health screenings, including blood pressure checks, blood glucose monitoring, and weight assessments.
• Provide referrals to healthcare facilities and other support services as needed.
• Collaborate with local clinics, schools, and community leaders to integrate health education initiatives.
• Maintain accurate patient records and document program activities and outcomes.
• Stay updated on current health trends, best practices, and available community resources.
• Advocate for community health needs and participate in health‑related advocacy efforts.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a current practising license in South Africa.
• Post‑basic qualification in Community Health Nursing or Public Health is essential.
• Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience in community health nursing or health education.
• Proven experience in developing and delivering health education programs.
• Strong knowledge of common health issues and preventative measures relevant to the Mpumalanga region.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Nelspruit and surrounding areas.
• Proficiency in local languages spoken in Mpumalanga is a strong asset.
