Geologist - Exploration and Production (Hybrid)

About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the Oil & Gas sector , is seeking a skilled and experienced Geologist to join their exploration and production team based in George, Western Cape, ZA . This is a hybrid role, requiring a balance of remote work and on-site collaboration. The successful candidate will be instrumental in identifying and evaluating new exploration opportunities, characterizing subsurface geological formations, and contributing to the development of viable extraction strategies. Key Responsibilities

• Interpret geological data from seismic surveys, well logs, and core samples.
• Develop and refine geological models for exploration and field development.
• Identify potential hydrocarbon-bearing prospects and evaluate their risk and reward.
• Collaborate with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling engineers to integrate geological information.
• Recommend well locations and drilling targets based on geological interpretations.
• Monitor and analyze geological aspects of drilling operations.
• Prepare geological reports and presentations for management and technical teams.
• Contribute to reserve estimations and resource assessments.
• Stay updated on new exploration technologies and methodologies.
• Ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards in all geological activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related earth science discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in exploration geology within the Oil & Gas industry .
• Proficiency in geological software packages (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong understanding of seismic interpretation, well logging, and core analysis techniques.
• Experience with basin analysis and prospect evaluation.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, essential for a hybrid work environment.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Must reside within or be willing to relocate to the vicinity of George, Western Cape, ZA .
