Logistics Planner - Cape Winelands

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic distribution company with a strong presence in the agricultural and food sectors, is seeking a skilled Logistics Planner for their operations based in or serving the Paarl, Western Cape area. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective planning and execution of all transportation and warehousing activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical abilities, a comprehensive understanding of logistics networks, and excellent coordination skills. You will play a crucial role in managing inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring timely deliveries and cost efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and optimize inbound and outbound logistics operations, including route planning and carrier selection.
• Manage transportation schedules to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
• Coordinate with warehouse staff, carriers, and customers to resolve logistical issues.
• Monitor transportation costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency gains.
• Analyze logistics data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with third-party logistics providers and carriers.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and safety standards.
• Assist in the management of inventory flow between facilities.
• Prepare reports on logistics performance, including delivery times, costs, and service levels.
• Support the implementation of new logistics technologies and strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics planning or transportation management.
• Proven ability to plan and optimize complex logistics operations.
• Strong understanding of transportation modes, route optimization, and carrier management.
• Proficiency in logistics planning software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with various stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment in or serving Paarl, Western Cape.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and efficiency.
• Knowledge of agricultural or food product logistics is a plus.
