Technical Project Manager - Software Development

About the Role

Our client, a fast-growing software development house, is looking for a skilled Technical Project Manager to oversee the development lifecycle of innovative software products. This role requires a blend of technical acumen and project management expertise to guide engineering teams through complex development cycles, from initial concept to final deployment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality software solutions, managing resources effectively, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders. This position is based in the thriving technological hub of Midrand, Gauteng , offering a dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the planning, execution, and delivery of software development projects using Agile methodologies.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and QA teams to define project scope, requirements, and timelines.
• Oversee the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC), including coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks and dependencies, ensuring smooth project progression.
• Manage project budgets, resources, and third-party contractors involved in the development process.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, quality assurance processes, and security best practices.
• Communicate project status, key metrics, and potential roadblocks to senior management and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, with at least 3 years specifically in software development projects.
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban) and tools (Jira, Confluence, Git).
• Proven ability to manage technical teams and foster a collaborative environment.
• Excellent understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and related technologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; PMP or CSM certification is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is an advantage.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work setting, balancing remote and in-office collaboration.
