Air Traffic Safety Coordinator
About the Role Our client, a key player in air traffic management services, is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Air Traffic Safety Coordinator to join their operations center in Centurion, Gauteng, ZA . This critical role involves overseeing and enhancing the safety of air traffic control operations, ensuring compliance with national and international aviation safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in air traffic control or aviation safety management, coupled with excellent analytical and investigative skills. Key Responsibilities Monitor air traffic control operations to identify potential safety hazards and risks. Investigate incidents, occurrences, and deviations from standard operating procedures, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions. Develop, implement, and maintain the Safety Management System (SMS) for air traffic services. Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance with aviation safety regulations. Facilitate safety awareness programs and training for air traffic controllers and operational staff. Prepare comprehensive safety reports and recommendations for management review and action. Liaise with regulatory authorities and other aviation stakeholders on safety-related matters. Manage the collection, analysis, and reporting of safety data, including occurrence reporting systems. Champion a strong safety culture throughout the air traffic control unit in Centurion . Requirements Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Safety Management, or a related field; certification as an Air Traffic Controller is highly desirable. Minimum of 5 years of experience in air traffic control, aviation safety management, or a related aviation operations role. In-depth knowledge of aviation safety regulations, standards (e.g., ICAO Annex 19, SACAA CARs), and Safety Management Systems. Proven experience in incident investigation, risk assessment, and safety auditing. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills. Proficiency in safety management software and data analysis tools. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage sensitive safety information. Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa and available for on-site duties in Centurion .
