Senior Cloud Architect

About the Role

Our client, a leading innovator in cloud-native solutions, is seeking a talented Senior Cloud Architect to join their remote team. While the position is based out of Queenstown, Eastern Cape, ZA, this role is fully remote, allowing you to contribute from your preferred location. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructures for our diverse client base. This role requires deep expertise in one or more major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and a strong understanding of cloud-native technologies, DevOps practices, and security principles. You will play a crucial role in guiding our clients through their cloud adoption journey, providing strategic advice, and ensuring the successful migration and operation of their workloads in the cloud. Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Develop cloud migration strategies and oversee the execution of migration projects.
• Optimize cloud environments for performance, cost, and reliability.
• Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Define and enforce cloud security best practices and compliance standards.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and automate deployments.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to cloud engineers and other team members.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Stay current with the latest cloud technologies, services and trends.
• Develop and maintain cloud architecture documentation and diagrams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 4 years focused on cloud architecture.
• Proven expertise in designing and deploying solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and IaC tools.
• Solid understanding of networking, security, and database concepts in cloud environments.
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, essential for a remote role.
• Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are a plus.
