About The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Employee Compensation Coordinator to join our People & Culture team in Cape Town. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for approximately 240 employees, maintaining compliance with tax and labour legislation, and supporting employees with payroll-related queries. This is a 12-month contract position, starting 2 January 2026, with a hybrid working model.
Key Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll across multiple payrolls
- Ensure payrolls run on time and comply with tax regulations and company policies
- Maintain and update payroll records (new hires, terminations, promotions, salary changes)
- Verify payroll inputs with supporting documentation and authorisations
- Reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare payroll reports for Finance, HR, and external stakeholders
- Liaise with third-party providers (software vendors, consultants, benefit administrators)
- Support audits and ensure payroll documentation is accurate and audit-ready
- Act as first point of contact for payroll-related queries
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to align payroll processes
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
- Provide general administrative support and assist with ad hoc payroll tasks
What You’ll Need
Qualifications & Certifications :
Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Finance, or related fieldSAPA Payroll Practitioner CertificatePayroll processing trainingIntermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skillsCourses in Labour Law, Tax Compliance, Data Protection (POPIA / GDPR)Experience :
2–4 years of hands‑on payroll administration experienceStrong knowledge of South African payroll legislation and statutory reportingExperience with payroll systems (e.g., Sage, Payspace, VIP)Exposure to multi‑country payroll or international teams is a plusExperience supporting payroll audits and managing full payroll cyclesSkills & Competencies :
