QA Inspector (Level 2) job vacancy in Johannesburg.
An opportunity for an experienced QA INSPECTOR (LEVEL 2) is required for permanent employment based in Kempton Park.
The QA (Level 2) Inspector is a critical technical role within the QA / quality control division.
The successful candidate will ensure that all fabrication, assembly, and installation work meets strict quality, safety, and regulatory specs. You will validate work against client specs, internal QCPs, and ISO processes, maintaining rigorous documentation (data books) and facilitating audit readiness.
You must be highly detail-oriented, technically competent in metal fabrication and industrial systems, and able to enforce quality standards in workshop and site environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspection & Verification
Perform Level 2 inspections on fabrication, welding, assembly, and installation work.
Verify compliance with Quality Control Plans (QCPs), client specifications, and internal procedures.Inspect feeders, ducting, stacks, hoppers, fan sections, dampers, transitions, and structural brackets / components.Oversee flameproofing, coatings, material preparation, dimensional and alignment checks.Conduct functional tests, pressure / airflow verification, dimensional verification, and post-installation checks.Documentation & Data ManagementMaintain and compile Data Books for each project, including inspection records, test reports, weld maps, NDT results, and compliance certificates.
Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), corrective action tracking, and rework validation.Ensure all QA documentation (ISO, client audits, material traceability, certificates) is current, accurate, and audit-ready.Assist in audits, internal quality reviews, and ISO compliance checks.Process & CollaborationCoordinate with workshop foremen, production managers, and project engineers to proactively resolve quality issues.
Participate in root cause analysis for defects or failures and recommend process improvements.Support site inspections during installation, handover, and commissioning phases.Liaise with third-party inspectors or client QA teams when required.Requirements
Grade 12 / N3 Certificate or equivalentQA / QC Level 2 Certification (essential)ISO 9001 (or relevant ISO) training or qualification (advantageous)At least 4–6 years’ experience in QA / QC within metal fabrication, industrial systems, or pollution control / exhaust / ducting industriesExperience in inspection of feeders, ductwork, stacks, transitions, and structural assembliesProficient interpreting engineering drawings, weld symbols, fabrication tolerances, and inspection standardsStrong knowledge of QCPs, inspection protocols, and data book methodologyComputer literate (MS Office, QA software, reporting tools)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsOwn reliable vehicle & valid driver’s license (essential)Willingness to travel locally to fabrication shops and client sites (When required)High attention to detail, integrity, and ability to enforce quality standards under pressureDesired Attributes
