PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The main purpose of this position is to ensure that services are billed timeously to maximise the business’s revenue and cashflows. The Revenue Accountant is responsible for ensuring that revenue reflects accurately in the general ledger. Analyse and reconcile financial and non-financial accounts monthly and report on variance analysis, including power.
MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Overseeing and analysing the income generated from business activities
- Ensuring the accuracy and compliance of revenue-related financial transactions in accordance with accounting standards
- Communicate with Sales, Operations and the Revenue Team to ensure Service Orders are billed accurately
- Engagement and communication with clients to resolve queries (outstanding purchase orders, discrepancies with invoices, etc.), provide reconciliations and collect outstanding debts
- Monitor client power usage and analyse usage reports
- Ability to prepare and analyse monthly accruals
- Ability to prepare and analyse income billed in advance and quarterly billed clients
- Responsible for month end financial reporting and journals
- To complete all month end processes within agreed timeframes
- To complete all monthly required submissions to Group as well as fixed assets
- Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
- Monitor key revenue accounts against budgets and reviewing of variances
- Responsible for maintaining various accounting schedules
- Ensuring compliance with controls and governance requirements
- Mentor junior staff members
