Overview
The Practise Lead will drive and implement strategy, revenue generation and business growth for the Digital Advisory. Focus on the management and delivery of client engagements, as well as sales and practice development. The role works with leading clients and their executive teams to design and define innovative business solutions that respond to disruption, design the journey to transition from the current to the future business, and establish transformation programs, products and services that drive growth and deliver long‑term value. Collaboration with partners across the firm and geographies ensures a holistic, cross‑functional, transformative approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to lead client through end‑to‑end design and delivery of forward‑looking, holistic, and business‑aligned technology solutions.
- Own end‑to‑end delivery of enterprise‑level technology and technology programs, including requirements, supporting strategies and architectures, and appropriately manages and mitigates risks across the program.
- Understand interlinks between sub‑offerings at a technical level to enhance market presence.
- Adopt a holistic view when recommending solutions, leveraging leading practices to align technology solutions with business strategy and industry issues.
- Anticipate risks, opportunities, and broader organisational implications of proposed recommendations, and proactively define mitigating solutions.
- Lead stakeholders in building executive‑level support and organisational buy‑in to enable and sustain the proposed programmes.
- Build a brand within a chosen domain and industry as a subject‑matter expert.
- Stay current on market trends and regulations and anticipate risks / opportunities; advise client accordingly.
- Identify and engage with potential customers and business partners through direct meetings while leveraging existing relationships and building new relationships with strategic partners and individuals.
- Support analysis and targeting of sales efforts through customer segmentation and profiling.
- Grow current client footprint by actively hunting new clients and opportunities.
- Represent BDO in forums and conferences, impart information about BDO’s technology and digital capabilities; lead the creation of new‑business proposals and presentations that nurture opportunities and showcase BDO’s value proposition.
- Prepare documentation for RFPs.
- Use BDO and industry data to identify trends and customer needs, and to build and secure a sales pipeline focused on meeting targets.
- Develop solution strategies.
- Support marketing stakeholders in coordinating and implementing marketing strategies.
- Provide input into the product vision and roadmap for Digital Advisory by aligning to BDO’s overall company strategy, commercial business‑unit requirements and key opportunities.
- Communicate vision and roadmap to stakeholders to ensure buy‑in, support and clarity on direction and execution.
- Collaborate with key business stakeholders to define requirements and priorities for the product team based on business objectives and strategy.
- Optimize and continuously improve the experience and value derived from products, journeys and services delivered by the product team through ongoing analysis of customer feedback, user / journey analytics and innovation.
- Participate in conceptual solution design to make recommendations to create and enhance solutions that are innovative, scalable, sustainable and solve complex business problems.
- Participate in user acceptance testing and guide users to ensure the designed solution meets business requirements.
- Participate in success / acceptance criteria definition using scenario testing and test cases to ensure testing covers all aspects of the business specification.
- Validate functionality of all technical solutions in line with business requirements on completion of development to ensure they meet requirements.
- Manage relationships with external clients and grow profitable accounts.
- Contribute scalable transformation ideas for the BDO client base and Africa as a member of the BDO digital and technology sounding board.
- Prepare forecasts and budgets for the Digital Advisory business unit.
- Manage and optimise the budget, ensuring expenditure is in line with approved budgets.
- Manage own client accounts within approved budgets and profitability targets.
- Guide and assist other managers on how to manage client accounts accordingly.
Qualifications
Experience and skills relevant to the role, including strategic leadership, technology solution delivery, and business development, are required. Candidates should possess strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder‑management capabilities, and a proven track record in aligning technology initiatives with business outcomes.
