Job descriptionProfessional Nurse qualification. Postgraduate Diploma in Critical Care Nursing (essential). Minimum of 3 years experience as a Professional Nurse in a hospital environment. At least 1 year of mentoring or preceptorship experience. Scientific nursing principles and patient assessment. Knowledge of nursing legislation and scope of practice. Infection prevention and control practices. Advanced life support training (e.g. ACLS ATLS PALS where applicable). Audit and record-keeping of patient files. Ability to develop and implement care plans. Basic pharmacology and computer literacy (Microsoft Office). Risk identification and analysis skills.
Senior Professional Nurse ICU (Permanent) Western Cape
We are looking for an experienced Senior Professional Nurse with a postgraduate qualification in Critical Care Nursing to support high-quality care in a specialised ICU unit. The successful candidate will support the Unit Manager in delivering safe effective and patient-centred care while mentoring junior staff and student nurses.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive and safe patient care by adhering to clinical quality standards.
- Manage and enhance the client experience through professional care practices.
- Guide and mentor new and student nurses to build team competence.
- Ensure effective use and retention of staff and resources.
- Assist in managing stock levels and operational costs within the unit.
