Job Purpose :
Applies technical understanding of electricity network control to evaluate the status of electricity supply and make determinations referring load flow management principles during outages or peak demand / supply periods.Key Responsibility Areas :
Applies interpretative and evaluative principles and techniques to monitor the electricity supply and status and / or outgoing circuits at substations in the high voltage range.Maintains safety levels and continuity of supply during technical and operational works on the electrical system or commissioning of new plant.Conducts investigations and communicates information on the technical applications, procedures and performance relating to the electrical network.Disseminates technical information in relation to the continuity of supply and planned outages.Maintains network control system performance information and statistical records and attends to specific reporting requirements.Competencies :

Must be a qualified Electrician who has served an apprenticeship recognized by the Department of Labour or be a qualified Electrician with a Trade Test Certificate recognized by the Department of Employment and Labour.Must be in possession of a NTC4 or NCV4 certificate in Electrical Engineering registered with the Department of Education.Must be currently an “Authorised Person” or have been in the past 24 months for 11kV with no restrictions. Or Be an authorised or have been in the past 24 months an authorised “High Voltage (HV) or Medium Voltage Network Controller”.Accredited First Aid Certificate holder or obtain one within six months of appointment.Valid motor vehicle driving license.3 years relevant experience in the Electricity Transmission and Distribution environment.Preferred Requirements :
Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.4 years relevant experience in a Control Room environment in the electricity transmission and distribution industry.Engineering / Technical jobs
