Role Purpose
The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing infrastructure services across OryxAlign and client environments. This role provides 3rd‑line technical support, delivers infrastructure projects, and ensures the stability, performance and security of server, network, cloud and storage platforms. The Infrastructure Engineer works closely with the Service Desk, Security, Cloud and UK technical teams to ensure reliable service delivery and an excellent customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Support & Maintenance : Provide 3rd‑line escalation support for incidents and service requests from Service Desk teams.
Maintain and support : Windows Server / Active Directory / Group Policy, Azure AD & Microsoft platforms, virtualisation platforms (VMware / Hyper‑V), on‑prem and cloud storage systems, backup platforms and DR environments. Troubleshoot performance, connectivity and system health issues across multi‑tenant environments.
Cloud & Modern Workplace Support : migration and maintenance of workloads in Azure and Microsoft.
Implement security, compliance and identity configurations in Azure AD and Microsoft.
Administer Microsoft Exchange Online & Teams environments.
Network & Security Support : and maintain network appliances (switching, routing, VPN, firewalls).
Configure and troubleshoot : VLANs, routing, DNS, DHCP, site‑to‑site VPNs, firewalls (Fortinet / Cisco / Sophos depending on client stack). Work closely with the Security Engineering team to apply hardening, patching and compliance standards.
Project Delivery : Participate in planning and delivering infrastructure upgrade and transformation projects.
Perform system migrations, Office / Microsoft onboarding, server refreshes and cloud build‑outs.
Document solutions, changes and designs following OryxAlign standards.
Monitoring & Documentation : Monitor system health and capacity trends; perform proactive remediation.
Maintain accurate documentation in the configuration management system (CMDB).
Ensure updates are logged and tracked within the ticketing system and closed in line with SLAs.
Required Experience & Skills
3+ years experience in Infrastructure / Systems Engineering within MSP or multi‑tenant environments.
Strong experience in : Windows Server, AD, Group Policy, Azure AD & Microsoft administration, VMware or Hyper‑V virtualisation. Good understanding of networking technologies (TCP / IP, VLANs, routing, firewall rules, VPNs).
Skilled in PowerShell for scripting, automation and configuration tasks.
Familiarity with ConnectWise, Autotask or similar service management platforms is advantageous.

Standard Cape Town working hours with required overlap with UK operations.
Participation in on‑call / after‑hours maintenance or incident response rotation as required.
