The Role : CNC Programmer
The CNC Programmer will play a key role in qualifying new parts for production and ensuring manufacturing processes are efficient, precise, and production-ready. This role requires advanced CNC programming knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage the transition from prototype to mass production with exceptional attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set, and operate 3- and 4-axis CNC milling machines and CNC lathes with Fanuc controls
- Develop and optimize CNC programs using Fusion 360, Mastercam, EdgeCam, or similar software
- Take ownership of new part qualification from planning through to final inspection and production handover
- Perform machine setups, tool changes, and adjustments for stable and efficient operation
- Implement effective clamping methods to maximize precision, stability, and cycle time
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
- Verify first-off parts and ensure compliance with required tolerances and specifications
- Conduct quality checks using precision measuring tools (verniers, micrometers, gauges, indicators)
- Troubleshoot machining issues and refine processes for improved accuracy and efficiency
- Work efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
About You
Certified Red Seal Qualification (Machinist or equivalent) with Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent5+ years of CNC programming, setting, and operating experienceProficiency with Fanuc controls and CAM software (Fusion 360, Mastercam, EdgeCam)Experience in both 3- and 4-axis milling and CNC lathe operationsFamiliarity with machining aluminium, stainless steel, mild steel, brass, titanium, polymers, and heat-treatable steelsBackground in high-volume production environments (advantageous)Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to optimize processes and reduce cycle timesHigh attention to detail and commitment to precision and qualityAbility to work independently while contributing to a collaborative teamStrong time management and organizational skills to meet production schedulesEffective communication skills, with mentoring / training ability considered a plus
